Washington, D.C.:– T. Kumar, Amnesty International USA (AIUSA) director for international advocacy, issued the following statement in response to the Internet video showing men in Pakistani military uniforms executing six young men in civilian clothes:
“Amnesty International USA is extremely disturbed by this video that shows men in Pakistani military uniforms killing young civilian men. The Obama administration should urge the Pakistani authorities to immediately investigate this video and make any findings public. If the images in the video are verified, the investigation should also focus on whether any Pakistani senior military and civilian officials were involved in either ordering or covering up these killings. All those responsible should be held accountable for their actions."
“AIUSA has been urging the Obama administration to fully enforce U.S. law restricting military assistance to any Pakistani military units that are involved in human rights violations.”
